Our life is in the hand of the Mechanic?

It was time to change the timing-belts during the last service as it was couple of thousands KMs more than the scheduled change....so i got it changed.

Just right after 1 week then I started noticing something was not quite right while driving back from KLIA during mid night....I started hearing some funny sounds.....the next thing I heard was something sort of "fell" off and got stuck....then the car aircond was out!! Immediately I switched of the aircond and drive slow just to get back home safely at that hour....

The next morning I decided to check on it and to my horror...this was what I discovered: The aircond compressor belt was off the pulley track!! That explains why the aircond was out... and 1/3 of the pulley track got chipped off!!! How could that be??? Must be something which is hard or sharp in order to make that cut!!

Then I decided to look further and discovered something else were missing. Those screws supposed to secure the timing belt cap went missing!!! So, probably they could have fallen and got caught between the belt and the pulley track the night before...

And the gap here explains the funny sounds I heard when it got lossen up...before I heard something actually was fell off...
Immediately, I called the mechanic...asking some "smart" questions on what they have done during the last service before I explained the situation to them. They came over have a look and drove my car back to their workshop and replace the whole aircond compressor FOC without asking any question...

I was without my car for 2 days and I was not in the mood either after they fixed the problem for FOC....I told them I trusted them for years by sending my car to their workshop for servicing, replacing parts.....etc. And that trust that built over the years has just gone into the drain for their negligence....something worse could have happened that night.

So, next time when you are suspicion something is unusual to your car (whether your car is due for a service or just came back from the service)....don't drive and have them check thoroughly!!!
