Expecting new born...new hopes....good sign?

After I decided and started to rear fishes (my childhood hobby) again at home for about 10 months ....this came as a surprise yesterday evening after I cleaned and changed the aquarium water in the afternoon. It has been more than a month after the last sad episode where almost all my beloved gold fishes died over the span of 3 days due to power tripped in the afternoon....by the time i reached home late at night...it was too late and most of them already dead.....now left only the 2 survivors.

Then I decided to rear other fishes....and i picked up a pair of "Discus", they all looks alike.....I don't even know how to differentiate or if I have picked up a male/female pair that costs me RM110. Over the month....i did not clean my aquarium beside replacing 1/3 of the water from time to time....and last night when doing my normal feeding...i noticed there are some red spotted "grains" look alike thingy sticked on the plastic piping....never came across my mind in the 1st place and some more talking to myself: I thought I just changed and cleaned the aquarium this afternoon.....

Only after observing for a while....then I noticed one of the discus always guarded that area and shoo away other fishes or "predators" that came near to it....OMG...the mother is guarding her eggs/unborn childs from the "predators". How could I be that stupid and dumb?? I was over joyed and immediately I have to transfer other "residents" in the same aquarium temporary to other places to give this pair of discus (probably 1st time proud parents) some privacy, peace of mind to undergo their parenthood.

Yet, I am still hesistating if i have picked up a male/female pair...visited the shop I picked up the fishes to seek further advice. I don't remember seeing those hindustan scene where one chasing after another (male chasing female)....or I could have missed out the scene. Then start google around to find more information how to take care the fishes as I am not sure if the eggs are fertilized by the male discus or whether the eggs will eventually hatched....

Guess I just need to observe for the next few days....although the success rate should be low....but since the mother discus not giving up hope guarding the eggs 24hrs...I should not be giving up also.....let see eventually we have new additions to the family...Hopefully, the ultimate scene I would like to see is baby discus swimming alongside with their mother....
