A very much over due entry....gosh! The last entry i did was on 19 Oct 2009!! More than 2 months I have not updating this blog. Anyway, there came another winter solstice celebration on 22nd December. The last chinese festive celebration for the year before we celebrate the arrival of Chinese Lunar New Year (Year of Tiger) on 14th Feb 2010 which coincides with Valentine's Day!!!
To celebrate Winter Solstice, we were told from young one must have is the glutinous rice ball dessert to grow older by one year....thought everyday we are growing older anyway!!! hehehe. So, this year I decided to prepare some and bring it back to the offcie to share with my colleagues in the office....
The "raw" ingredients....is very easy and convenient nowaday...you either get thefrozen pack from the super markets....or you can get the ready made glutinous rice ball from the night market the night before and boil them on your own and prepare the syrup.

I decided the get the ready made dough and some crushed peanuts from the market to prepare the glutinous rice balls....tada.....the half finish product:

The bigger ones in red are with peanuts "hum" - means with filling. Damn! It wasn't easy to "sor" the glutinous rice balls with "hum". As for the syrup, I just bring the water to boiled with some pandan leaves and crushed ginger with mixture of brown sugars and rock sugars. Oops.....forget to snap the finishing product :)
